The working group TECH was set up by the Committee of Technical Experts in 2006. It works in English only. WG TECH convenes three times per year.

WG TECH examines all issues concerning harmonisation and technical interoperability with a view to establishing and maintaining equivalence with European Union regulations for the Member States of OTIF.

Besides its primary task of preparing proposals for decision by the CTE, WG TECH is a forum for discussion and exchange between the authorities of Member States, the EU Commission, the EU Agency for Railways, and different sector representative organisations.

Participating in WG TECH meetings allows delegates to discuss future developments in the scope of APTU and ATMF and to become aware of developments in the EU.

At present, the working group is working to develop safe technical interoperability beyond the EU.
