The Supervisory Authority is a body created by the Luxembourg Rail Protocol. Its members are appointed in accordance with Article XII of the Luxembourg Rail Protocol.

It oversees the implementation of the Luxembourg Protocol, i.e. the establishment, operation and management of the International Registry of Interests in Rolling Stock.

In carrying out its duties, it is assisted by a secretariat. OTIF is currently the Secretariat of the Supervisory Authority.
